How do I build a claw for my mechanical arm?
I have the basic structure of the arm done, which was simple. How do I go about to making the claw without hydraulics or electronics? I'm looking for something in which I can pull strings to operate it. It's supposed to be really simple.
My resources are cardboard, crochet thread, small and large binder clips, Popsicle sticks, wire nails, wooden clothespins and wire clothes-hangers.
Like I said, please keep it simple if you have any ideas. It can be vague, I just need a little inspiration. Thank you so much!

Bend the clothes hangars to make a scoop at the end.
Then pivot them somewhat up your arm, with a slight bend outwards.

The slashes being your hangers and the | being your arm
something like that.
Then have your hangar bent in such a way that pulling strings would cause them to go inwards.
