Why do I have good water pressure in my downstairs, but the water pressure upstairs is weak?
The water shutoffs are fully opened on all upstairs plumbing (sinks, shower, toilet).
Anything I can do to increase the water pressure upstairs would be appreciated.
Your best bet is to get a pressure tester to verify the drop in pressure in all of the fixtures. To do so you need to get a pressure tester, which is available at any local hardware store. Next you hook it up to each of the fixtures. If you do have a severe drop in pressure you need to check your pipes. If you have galvanized pipes, and hard water, it is quite common for sedimentation to accumulate on the inside of your pipes. If this is happening you may need to replace some of the pipes, sad but true. It is relatively easy, but if you need help you may need to call a plumber to do so. I recommend using copper to do so, it resists sediment much better. Also install a whole house filter to prevent anymore sediment from coming in.
