What lamps should I use to brighten a room?
I want to redecorate my dorm room and brighten it up. It's an OLD building so it's dark, and the ceilings are VERY high. There's a overhead lighting fixture, but the light is fluorescent and horrible, so I'd rather not have to use it ever. My thought was: buying one floor lamp and one table lamp.
Because the ceilings are so high, torchiere lamps don't do much. I want as much light as possible with as few lamps, preferably only 2. Are there lightbulbs that emit more light than regular light bulbs? I've heard that the wattage doesn't make a difference in brightness. If I get a shaded lamp, should I get a white, sheer shade? Should I get white, sheer curtains as well? How can I brighten up my room! Help!
