BC Steel Buildings - Do I have to be a professional to construct my pre engineered steel building?

No. Customers choose to construct pre engineered steel buildings themselves all the time. Do It Yourself buildings are a large part of pre engineered steel building companies business in British Columbia. Most types of buildings like small garages, workshops, farm buildings and other similar sized buildings are designed for this purpose. It is certainly manageable depending on the size and shape of the building you have chosen to do it yourself. These buildings com with blueprints and all pieces are meant to go in one specific place, so there is no guess work. If you are handy and only need 10 people or less I would say you should be fine.

You may already have some or all of the tools necessary to construct your building or someone you know may have them as well. Tools you need to consider for construction are things like air ratchets and other power tools to fasten bolts to beams. A good quality screw gun to install self-Drilling Screws will be needed as well as some other normal tools. All the tools you would need for a smaller sized building can be bought or rented from most hardware stores in british columbia. You should expect to pay about $130 for a quality screw gun and over $200 for things like air ratchets and other air tools.

For help and assistance with some of the heavy loads, using a forklift, front end loader or track loader work really well for raising beams up high. Make sure you have a well trained person operating the machine for your safety with a few others above to help assist the beam into place and fit correctly, which is very important for pre engineered steel buildings. Depending on the job, you may not need some heavy machinery which would be a judgement call for you.

If your pre engineered steel building has a large span over around 90 feet then you want to start considering some professional help to stabilize and control such large beams and have the structure constructed safely. This may include odd shaped, large and more complicated buildings such as churches, warehouses and retail buildings. Even if you are experienced with using heavy machinery, you may want to have some professional help when a large and or complex building is being erected. When you have reached that point where professional help is needed look for a contractor that specializes in erecting steel buildings preferably from your area in British Columbia. Since they are professionals, they will be able to put up your building quicker than you which may be optimal if you are under a tight time frame. They should know all the contractors in your area and steer you in the right direction, if they are a local company. will screws kill my oak tree?

my dad says i cant screw nails into the oak tree cause it will kill it. and about how it will fall on the house and this stuff blah blah blah. but is this true. I don't think so. i am using steel screws and building a platform on the top where i can climb the tree, and some in the bottom to climb to the platform. so can i do it.

Enough nails and screws could affect the health of an immature oak tree. usually, though, if you drive some spikes or nails into any tree, the woody material around the spike or screw dies but also hardens and creates a barrier to the interference of the foreign object. In this case, it would take a huge number of nails or screws to kill an adult tree.
Of course were you to use railroad spikes or something that can allow the thing to get to the core, you could have problems. If nails and screws indeed killed trees, why would we see so many old trees with old treehouses still around?
