I have a RED 1987 Toyota pick-up truck, slightly oxygenated original paint. How do I get Silicone Sealant off?

A while back, someone suggested I put silicone sealant (clear) around the front windshield of my truck because the seal was old and was leaking water onto me everytime it rained! I know it was not a solution to the problem, just a QUICK-FIX...the problem arose later the next morning... I figure the silicone was not quite dry by the evening, and the fog rolled in, and soaked the car...(I live in S.F. Ca.) So..., the next morning, I found that the silicone had dilluted or something and ran down the sides of my truck all the way to the bottom of the door panels! The "streaks", were already "set", by morning, and had turned a couple of shades of DARKER RED then the original paint! I don't know what I can use without distroying my already comprimised paint job!??!! It looks like I have got fresh "gunk" droolling down the sides and back, (wind swept effect), of my truck ALL THE TIME! HELP! Thanks..

I wonder about the silicone you used. You must have used a water based product like paintable acrylic silicone. It was not what you should have used. You should've used the silicone put out by GE. It is not waterbased and comes in clear and you will use so very LITTLE of the product just to build a ramp from the metal up onto the window seal rubber. A cross section would look like a tiny wedge or ramp.

How to get the stuff off that is on the paint job. There is a product you can get in the paint section of an automotive store called "silicone remover". A gell which you brush on, wait a bit until the silicone softens and shrivels and then hose off.
Now, being that your car paint has oxidized(red does that the fastest) What you need is some rubbing compound which you apply like hard wax and rub down the paint with a cloth, and later just wipe the compound off. Paint job will look like brand new, ready for a wax job preventing it from oxidizing.
