how to light the pilot light on a gas fired fireplase?

Someone blew out the pilot light on my gas fireplace. Is there any trick to relighting it?

Just move the Gas Valve knob to pilot
mash down and light it
keep holding down till it stays lit
once it stays lit move the knob to ON
then turn the thermostat up or it just may come on
if their is no thermostat
NOW if it does not STAY lit it is because the pilot ODS system has a bug in it literally ,a bug will make a cobweb inside the ODS chamber and this will mimic loss of oxygen in the room. ODS stands for Oxygen Depletion System. It is designed to lower the output flame of the pilot when oxygen gets low in the room, causing the safety magnet to shut down the fire before asphyxiation occurs hopefully. Blow out the pilot chamber located behind the pilot burner if this is the case use shop air, or alcohol, or rust buster. Good old rust buster is non flamable and has a telescoping spout to reach the pilot and squirt a little into the whole pilot light literally flushing away any obstructions that would cause the ODS to shut down prematurely ....Cobfused yet? get it? ha ha
