Can brass hold a magnet?
I thought only iron or steel could, but I have an old lock that has a center core that is gold-colored and shiny, like brass. But it holds a magnet. Gold colored steel?
Probably Brass Plated. The core itself is generally made of steel and keys are brass (softer). That way the key wears out before the lock.
