Coaxial cable?
Hi,
I am doing an experiment with a coaxial cable and i want to Count out it expected RC-constant for the cable.
I have measured the resistance for the cable, but when i count the RC, the resistansen that will be used only is the half of it resistans measured in the beginning.
Why should i use the half resistance?
I think it has something to do with the electrons, but i have no clue how to solve it
Coaxial cable has distributed resistance and capacitance, unlike lump resistance and capacitance in RC circuit. The simplest assumpion is to model the central wire as two equal resistors in series, each on 1/2 of total resistance of the wire.
There is also accurate solution for coaxial cable, which involves the so called wave resistance of the cable, usually 50 Ohm.
