-Dishwashers and washing machines must be installed by a professional. Otherwise you risk having to bear the costs of injuries both in your own apartment or a rented house.
-Always ask for written care instructions for your newly purchased machines and appliances.
-Turn off the water in dishwasher and Washing Machine when not in use.
-Examine the hoses to the dishwasher and washing machine regularly.
-Dishwasher's water supply is connected to a kitchen sink faucet with stopcocks. If you have a sink faucet without shut-off valve for the dishwasher, replace faucets.
-The dishwasher should be on a waterproof surface; either on a waterproof mat unfolded against the wall or in a dishwasher mats. A leaking dishwasher without a waterproof surface can destroy an entire kitchen floor and the underlying structural elements before you even find the leak! You can obtain a waterproof surface from your insurance company or in stores.
-The washing machine should preferably be located in the bathroom. If it's in the kitchen, you should have a waterproof surface, like the dishwasher.
-Avoid having the dishwasher and/or washing machine running when you are not home.
-The floor drain must be adapted to the ceramic layer and mounted so that it can be easily inspected and cleared.
-The entire floor must slope towards the drain.
-Clean the floor drain in the bathroom and shower room at least twice a year.
-Make sure the floor mat is properly secured towards the drain. Pull on the clamp and make sure it is secure.
-Use only industry-approved floor and wall coverings in bathrooms and showers.
-Pipes to the sink and wash basins should be cleaned regularly. Run water to check that water seal is not leaking.
