All fluid transfer lines found in motorcycles, Inkjet printers, fire hose systems, oil pipe lines, medical devices, plumbing and hydraulic systems need a connection device such as a Barb Fitting. What's best to seal rough thread hot water connection?
on further inspection found the brass threads to have a few little v nicks at the top which is obviously why the thread tape didn't work.
i got some loctite no 3 avaition gasket cement and was thinking that may work well with hemp (hemp being fibrous) or should i just try it on its own. its non hardening and for threaded connections (withstands pressures up to 35 MPa). Doesn't say how long you need to wait before pressure testing. (Someone suggested oil paint with the hemp but I think that would take to long to dry)
I have just obtained info that its a compression connection, teflon tape or compound should NOT be used.
Thanks for replies but will submit new query re compression fitting.
Go to your local home improvement store and get a tube of pipe joint compound. (Pipe Dope) I have never had any luck with the teflon tape.
Some years ago we had a gas smell after a new furnace was installed. We called our gas supplier and had a service call. All of the teflon joints were leaking gas. Took apart and used pipe dope. No leaks since.
