How do I use my Aspen Pet dog collar?

I'm including some pictures because I can not figure this out. To me, it seems like the "D" ring is on the wrong way. I am not sure how this is supposed to be put on my dog. It seems no matter which way I play around with it it seems to be wrong. I hope that someone can help me figure this silly thing out. Thank you for sincere answers.
